We offer a wide variety of all-round coaching for all age groups. Batting, bowling and fielding. From a grass-roots level to county and beyond.

How we do it

We host a programme of 1-2-1, group, club and masterclass coaching sessions through the year as well as additional team and league training in our purpose built built indoor and outdoor facility. All-year round, you can hone your skills so you’re always improving.

Our team

Luke Humphrey

Head Coach

Luke started his coaching career in 1998 as a ECB Level 1 Coach and later joined the family business, on a full time basis, in 2002. Just a year later he became one of the youngest ECB Level 3 coaches in the England.  For the following 8 years Luke work closely with Hertfordshire County Cricket Assocaition as an Age Group Coach, Emerging Players Progamme Head Coach and Performance Director.   He also gained invaluable experience with disabled schools as well as several years on the Chance to Shine initiative.

Luke worked with The England Lions and was the Lead Batting Coach for the England Talent Tests at the home of Team England, the National Cricket Performance Centre, Loughborough.

In 2010 Luke was nominated by the then ECB Lead Batting Coach Dene Hills and subsequently selected for the world renowned ECB Level 4 Master Coach Award, the same qualification held by many elite international coaches including England Head Coach Peter Moores.

Luke has worked as a specialist batting coach for Hertfordshire CC and was the head coach for the East Cricket Academy (ECA).  The ECA provided high quality winter coaching for U13-U15 cricketers in the East of Hertfordshire and worked in association with Hertfordshire Cricket.
In 2018 HECC hosted the inaugural year of the National Fast Bowling Academy (NFBA) which is lead by Ian Pont and was visited by ECB managing Director Ashley Giles who later Tweeted “Great to visit @HECCSport today and see the great work being done supporting our young cricketers.  Well done and thanks for looking after me”.  Heading into its 2nd year (2019) Luke works full time on the coaching staff.

Locally, Luke has long worked with many clubs such as Hoddesdon C.C. and Harlow C.C. designing group coaching programmes and leading on Targeted 121 Programmes. In October 2019 he was appointed Director of Coaching at Bishop’s Stortford Cricket Club.  Luke also has much experience in schools from primary to private, supporting or leading wherever is necessary.

Finally HECC is proud to announce that as of September 2019 Luke successfully applied for the brand new ECB Level 4 Specialist Award where he has chosen batting and spin bowling to master in.  This is a 2 year course and is the highest qualification in the UK if not the world.  This, combined with his work with the National Fast Bowling Academy and his 21 years of experience, puts Luke in a great place to help any aspiring cricketer, club, school or any cricketing institution.

Brad Oaks

Brad is an ECB Level 2 coach and the HECC Apprentice for 2016/17 working in conjunction with Sporting Futures.

He started at HECC in Sept 2016 and quickly got to grips with 121 clients and the Junior Development Squads and Academies.   Brad is looking for to his role as the HECC schools coach this summer throughout the surrounding area.

Jack Ormsby

Jack is an ECB level 2 qualified coach and is the HECC apprentice working now in his second year alongside Sporting Futures training for his apprenticeship. 

Jack started at HECC in September 2017 and has been working with HECC’s Development Squads and Academies.  His personal coaching skills have improved immeasurably and he is now readily available for 121 coaching.

At the age of 20 Jack has a good amount of cricketing experience. He currently plays for Saffron Walden C.C. making his first team debut at 16 years of age. He has also played for Cambridgeshire under 25’s, making his debut in 2017 when he was just 18 years of age. Success as this level has seen him recently elevated to the Cambridgeshire 1st XI, making his debut against Suffolk in August 2018.

Sandra Humphrey

Sandra Humphrey is the Director of the business and focuses much of her time on administration and accounts.

Sandra brings a wealth of experience through her previous role within the Hertfordshire County ECB Cricket Development Office and Hertfordshire Women and Girls Director.  She is also the Secretary of East Herts Ladies Cricket Club.
